Happy eco-fashion-nerd-goth love day!

Just came back from downtown LA bar mogul Cedd Moses' new hotspot THE DOHENY, an exclusive bar where you have to pay a membership fee of something in the tens of thousands of dollars to gain entrance. It opens tomorrow, but I was fortunate enough to be invited by 4copas, who showcased their incredible organic tequilas at the event. I tried two - one that had some alcohols I've never heard of before with some peach bitters and another with fresh squeezed blood oranges, which was a FANTASTIC cocktail served up to us by Mario Batali's former bartender - easily the yummiest cocktail I've had this year. I brought Tracy Hepler of the newly-launched hip and green social calendar yourdailythread.com with me, and we ended the night pleasantly surprised that the organic tequila tasted "smoother than Patron" on its own. 4copas will be at the LOVE IS IN THE AIR eco-luxe bridal salon on Feb. 29th - come try it there while getting a mani/pedi or experience it at the Doheny, conveniently located underneath the AEG / LA Live headquarters.

Chasing Health

I became acquainted with Health's music through association with Crystal Castles, a music obsession of mine for awhile now, and I went to the El Rey a while back ago to watch their show and unfortunately didn't show up in time (but did see an amazing performance called Ultimate Reality by Dan Deacon).

Then I found out through my friend Ale at the Dublab that they were recording a music video for Health in Silverlake last weekend, so I rolled in to Materials and Applications - again too late and Health was gone, all I saw was some cool footage....darn! Apparently it doesn't pay to be fashionably late. But tonight, I'm crossing my fingers that the third time's the charm, and I will enter the world of Health groupie-dom, by going to see a show they are doing at the uber-cool Pehrspace Gallery in Little Filipinotown. $5, BYOB. Hope to see you (and Health) there...

Keep Shoes

Rickey Kim of Evil Monito kindly gifted me these Keep shoes that have quickly become my favorite walking shoes. They are so comfortable and stylish in that LA hipster kind of way that now I want all of their shoes: every color, every style. EcoNouveau Fashion Show Coming Soon

LA Fashion Week gets kicked off by a “green” stiletto at ‘EcoNouveau' - a fashion, music and art show - on Friday, October 12 in downtown Los Angeles at the landmark St. Vibiana’s Cathedral. EcoNouveau, a co-production spearheaded by Rob Ganger of Pollinator Media Group, Peter Gurnz from BOXeight and Sarah Shewey from Pink Cloud Events, will feature three of the most innovative eco-fashion designers in a non-traditional runway show crafted for international press, buyers and eco-conscious VIP’s. We will curate breakout musical performances, art, film/video and products which are all designed on the principles of high art aesthetics and environmentalism, to the general public. OC Fair's Beach Cattle Drive is GROSS

As if the rickety rides, petting zoo, and the overall carny that comprises a fair isn't scary enough, the OC Fair are walking 100 cattle ON THE BEACH in Huntington. I repeat: 100 COWS ON A BEACH where people lay out, swim, play volleyball - how is that clean? What is the connection between cows on a beach and the OC fair? It's just gross. And definitely not green, as the cattle are disturbing the natural composition of the beaches. More disappointing is the list of sponsors paying between $5,000 - $100,000 to make this event happen: AAA, Toyota, Oakley sunglasses, the OC Realtors Association. What are these people thinking? How do cows on a beach positively influence their community and their product? And why does the OC Register call it an environmental friendly event? It's not just greenwash, it's hogwash.

Long time, no post

Sorry, folks - got up in the inertia of the East Coast and haven't found the time to write on the road. Back now, and in full force.

Here's an article about the new green airliner from Bombing - I mean, Boeing - that got released earlier this month.

I'll be having a green consultant come to my home and evaluate my space for greenness - will let you know how that goes.

The big weddings day is coming up tomorrow: 7-7-7. The amount of phone calls and requests for weddings on this day has been unbelievable, I even got the calls over two years ago. No joke.

We're not only excited about all the happy couples, but we're also excited to see LIVE EARTH's 24 hours of concerts around the world start tomorrow with musicians raising awareness for a healthier climate change.
