Gilroy, we love thee!

Erik Lang (see above), Chuck Haines, and I drove up this week in the Honda Insight to San Francisco, on our way to film the first of our webisodes…this one is about food and we’re excited to be introducing you soon to pastry chef extraordinaire Elizabeth Falkner of Citizen Cake, Michelle Broderick at Yelp.com, and the Chief Chocolate Officer of Tcho, Timothy Childs (also, a man with a foot of lead!)

We made a pit stop at Gilroy, the garlic capital of the US, on our way up. None of us had been there before and it seemed like now or never was the consensus in the car. Gilroy is a small town with a Walmart, and a WHOLE lot of garlic! And cherries, although it’s not the season. We stopped into Garlic World and had a lovely time sampling garlic (pickled, smoked pickled, Italian pickled, stuffed in olives, and more!) and chatting with the friendly staff - we were even invited to a real Sicilian Sunday dinner, homemade by our new friend’s father, so now we might be coming back to Gilroy again soon. Gilroy, we love thee! :)

Stay tuned for more stories from the road…
